UTALCA CLOSE LINKS WITH UNIVERSITY FROM MOROCCO

UTALCA PRESIDENT, ALVARO ROJAS, AND THE PRESIDENT OF ABDELMALEK ESSAADI UNIVERSITY, HOUDAIFA AMEZIANE, AGREED TO FORMALIZE A COOPERATION AGREEMENT.

Managing a collaboration agreement in different areas of knowledge and possibilities for exchange were the topics addressed by University of Talca President, Alvaro Rojas, during the work meeting held with Houdaifa Ameziane, President of the Abdelmalek Essaâdi University (UAE), located in the north of Tetouan, Morocco.
 
Also present in the meeting were the Vice President for Research and Cooperation, Ahmed el Moussaqui; the Vice Dean for College Mission, Mohamed Larbi Kerjkeb, and the Vice President of the Tangier-Tetouan Region, Mohamed Chaouch.
 
"This meeting served to achieve important cooperation actions between the two universities in terms of students and professors mobility between the two sides of the Atlantic. A framework cooperation agreement will be signed shortly to formalize this important partnership", stressed the people from the Moroccan Academic Institution, who also called UTalca "one of the main referents for higher education in Latin America."
 
 
The UAE is a public university working on disciplines related to applied, legal, economic and social sciences, as well as in the field of technology and engineering.
 
At the meeting, President Rojas recalled that one of our challenges in the Strategic Plan is internationalization.
 
The visit of the president and other Maulean authorities, including CORE’s President, Boris Tapia, and Congressman Roberto León, was organized by the ambassador of Morocco, Kenza Al Ghalil, within the framework of the "Decentralized Cooperation Agreement" signed by the Regional Government of the Maule Region and representatives of the Tangier-Tetouan Region, in January 2017.
 
Among the commitments contemplated in the alliance there were established exchanges related to the agro-food industry and tourism, as well as collaboration in scientific, technological, cultural, heritage, university, solidarity economy and renewable energies fields. To that end, it was agreed the creation of channels to strengthen and facilitate the participation of public and private institutions in different projects and/or programs to be jointly identified.
 
In this context, the delegation, including President Rojas, participated in various meetings with representatives of the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the African nation; the President of the Upper House (Senate) of the Moroccan parliament, Hakim Becnchemas; the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tangier-Tetouan Region-Al Hoceima, Omar Moro, and the President of the Provincial Assembly of Tetouan, Mohamed El Arbi Matini, among other authorities.
 
In addition, the president of the UTALCA intervened in the V International Forum of Ancient Cities and Intangible Heritage, where he gave a speech on reconstruction.
