Faculty of Medicine

We contribute to improving people's quality of life through training based on a solid disciplinary and ethical framework and considering patients from a holistic perspective. We also promote knowledge development and clinical research to address community health problems.

In order to improve the quality of life of the population, The School of Medicine was founded in 2009 and the date, It has established itself as one of the leading regional institutions for medical training in Chile, committed to academic excellence, networking, innovation, and high-level scientific research.  

This academic unit has biomedical research laboratories in cellular aging and cancer, neurophysiology, molecular physiology, genomic histopathology, and biomedical informatics. It also has modern, highly complex Clinical Simulation rooms at the service of its students and academics.

The Faculty has the first Center for Nanomedicine, Diagnostics and Drug Development (ND3) in the country. Since 2021, undergraduate and medical specialty academic activities have been held at the Pehuenche Campus.

The doctors at the University of Talca are recognized as competent, highly qualified professionals with a strong social commitment. 

The curriculum is geared toward comprehensive education, promoting student development based on competencies, values, active citizenship, and the development of scientific knowledge.   

  • The first generation of doctors graduated in 2015.
  • It has 5 years of accreditation.
  • In 2019, the first cohorts of the medical specialty programs in Family and Community Medicine and Adult Psychiatry and Mental Health will be admitted.
  • The Pediatrics and Internal Medicine programs will begin operations in 2020.
  • In 2022, the first professionals will graduate from the Adult Psychiatry and Mental Health and Family and Community Medicine programs.
