Juan Ignacio Molina Institute of Humanistic Studies

Founded in 1987 under the symbolic figure of the Jesuit and naturalist from Maule, Juan Ignacio Molina, this institute represents the humanities within and beyond our University from a multidisciplinary perspective.

This academic unit conducts research activities through projects and publications, teaching undergraduate programs through the Fundamental Training Program, and postgraduate programs through the Doctorate in Human Sciences in conjunction with the Faculty of Psychology.

+ Since 2001, he has managed the José Donoso Ibero-American Literature Prize.

+ It has “Universum”, an academic journal of Humanities and Social Sciences.

+ It has the Heritage Documentation Center.

+ Holds workshops, colloquia, symposia and conferences.

The Institute, together with the Faculty of Psychology, are the academic units responsible for the Doctorate in Human Sciences.

Founded in 2015, this scientific doctoral program is geared toward meeting the needs of advanced human capital in the region and the country, where graduates are equipped to conduct original, autonomous research that contributes to society.

This study program is a collective effort that promotes the convergence of knowledge from the humanities and psychology, as well as the integration of their methodologies.
