Dental Clinics implement electronic medical record system
It allows for better organization and monitoring of the care and services required by patients.
The University Dental Clinics have begun the transition to an electronic medical record system, a milestone that will optimize the patient care experience and streamline the student training process.
“Dentalsoft” is the name of the software used to digitize information, allowing for better organization, data accessibility, and patient follow-up, while also promoting coordination between the institution's various clinical services.
According to Eduardo Canales Aravena, director of the Dental Clinics, this will not only reduce service times, but will also improve the patient experience by improving the quality of service provided.
"The electronic medical record will facilitate access to relevant data and allow students to manage information in a more organized manner, enriching their educational experience and better preparing them for their future professional practice," he said.
The implementation of this advancement has been possible thanks to the collaborative efforts of various departments. This process involved an extensive process to adapt the software to the specific needs of the University of Talca, ensuring that the platform integrates properly with the institution's administrative workflows and scheduling systems. The system will also allow for integration between the Kinesiology and Speech Therapy clinical records, facilitating interoperability and improving internal referral processes between the clinical services provided by UTalca.
The tool is currently in a trial period. Since July, intensive training has been conducted for administrative staff, students, and faculty members of the Faculty's clinical modules to ensure they are prepared to use the new platform.
“We hope that by 2025, all information will be completely digitized. This change will not only improve operational efficiency but also allow for more accurate monitoring and the generation of patient satisfaction and follow-up indicators,” added Eduardo Canales Aravena.
The academic emphasized that the Faculty of Dentistry remains committed to innovation and continuous improvement of its clinical services, with the goal of providing the best possible care to our patients and excellent training to our students.
It should be noted that dental clinics are now the institution's most widely served service, increasing their services by 40% compared to 2023.
