New members appointed to the Board of Directors
María Fernanda Vásquez and Yerko Moreno were appointed by the Academic Council and will begin sessions in March 2020.
The Institution's Academic Council appointed academics Yerko Moreno Simunovic and María Fernanda Vásquez Palma as representatives of the Board of Directors for a period of three years.
“Two members were elected to the Board of Directors, one to replace José Antonio Yuri, whose term expired on December 31, 2019, and the other to replace Valeska Gatica, who must resign from the Board of Directors to assume the position of Vice-Rector,” reported the General Secretary, Rodrigo Palomo.
The selection was made during the last Ordinary Session of the Council by the deans and directors of the Institutes, who proposed the names of tenured professors who did not hold senior management positions. A vote was then held, which approved the appointment of these academics to the Institution's main governing body.
With the addition of these professionals, the committee is now composed of Alejandro Ferreiro, who also serves as its president, while Francisco Brieva remains as vice president. The other members are María Soledad Carvallo, María Consuelo Corta, Gisela Massman, Patricio Meller, and Carlos Chávez, a professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business.
It is worth remembering that the Board of Directors has among its responsibilities the approval of the annual budget and its modifications, setting the development policy of the Institution, appointment of senior managers and validating its organizational structure, among other powers.
