Outstanding participation in choral gathering
The activity – conducted via Zoom and Facebook Live – brought together more than 100 young people from different educational institutions.

The UTalca School of Music Choir had a remarkable turnout during the twenty-first edition of the University Choral Gathering, an event that brought together groups from different educational institutions in Chile, Ecuador, and Colombia, who performed via virtual platforms. During the event, organized by the University of Bío-Bío with the sponsorship of the Board of Rectors, the UTalca ensemble performed songs such as "Madrigalillo" by Manuel Oltra and "O nata lux de lumine" by Morten Lauridsen. The virtual gathering aimed to promote choral singing at the university level and also provided the opportunity to enjoy the work of renowned choirs from both Chile and Latin America. The director of the UTalca Choir, Paula Elgueta, emphasized that our Corporation has an important choral tradition, which is recognized nationwide, and highlighted that at the event, "twelve students from first to fourth years who make up the group reflected on all the work we have done this year remotely." Along these lines, Pedro Vega, the director of community outreach at the aforementioned academic unit, observed that, during its more than thirty years of operation, the Choir has played a leading role in the music of the Maule Region, especially in choral singing, which, over time, has gone beyond outreach. "The University of Talca has a deep commitment to the education of young people, sharing a passion for this activity that provides them with new tools for optimal development," he commented. José Loyola, a second-year student in the Bachelor of Specialized Musical Performance and Training program and a member of the choir, expressed his gratitude for "the opportunity to showcase our talent and participate alongside other universities. It was a very enriching activity, where we showcased what we have been working on recently with our colleagues from the School of Music." On behalf of the organizers, Héctor Campos, Director of Outreach at the University of Bío-Bío, praised UTalca's presence at the meeting. “Holding these types of activities, where we connect with other universities, is very important. Therefore, we are grateful for the presence of the University of Talca, through its Choir, which had an impeccable performance. I am sure this will be the first of many other presentations where they will continue to surprise us with their vocal talent,” he stated. It is worth noting that, in addition to the choirs' performances, a discussion was also held, led by the participating choir directors.
