The principal mission of the Institute of Mathematics and Physics is the cultivation of the Mathematical, Physical and Statistical Sciences, materialized through research, teaching and extension.

The Institute develops specific research in Algebra and Number Theory, Analysis, Mathematical Physics and Statistics, in addition to FONDECYT, Anillo, FONIS and DIÄT projects.

Its teaching activity is enhanced by the Master’s degree in Mathematics, a graduate program that has transformed the Institute in one of the most important and active mathematical research centers of the country.

In that program, students acquire a solid training and a strong methodological potential in the definition and implementation of research lines for their further educational development
