The Institute of Biological Sciences works with knowledge and teaching in biological sciences and biotechnology in the faculties and schools of the University.

In addition to undergraduate courses and programs, it also imparts, at the graduate level, the Master's programs in Applied Ecology, and the Doctorate in Science with a mention in Plant Genetic Engineering.

As an academic unit, it has an active participation in scientific research through the execution of projects financed with internal and external funds, which are in charge of various research groups, among them, Integral and Systematic Plant Biology, Plant-Insect Interactions and Biopesticides, Molecular Plant Physiology and Molecular Genetics, Improvement and Physiology.
